Sports Massage

Sports Massage

Sports massage treatment is used to prepare an individual for peak performance by alleviating muscle tension/tightness, pain and joint stiffness. It is designed to reduce fatigue, relieve swelling, promote flexibility and prevent sprains and strains.

When sports massage treatment is received regularly it can help prevent injuries that might otherwise be caused by overuse.  A constant build-up of tension in the muscles from regular activity may also lead to stresses on joints, ligaments and tendons.

Techniques which will be applied include, myofascial release, soft tissue longitudinal and cross fibre, muscle energy techniques, inhibition, positional release, passive and active stretching with mobilisation.

The treatment will identify muscles imbalances and possible dysfunction, in which case a unique, customised plan will be created to help the body correct this.
